An Independent Financial Advisory Panel for Mayor and Councillors

Kāpiti Coast has its share of local residents highly qualified in financial management willing to volunteer their expertise to help council and the community. I will set up an independent panel of advisers with the ability to provide advice outside of the council management structure. This will give, both our communities and council, trusted and considered opinions.

Any such advice will be separate from the primary sources of financial advice from the Council's Chief Executive, Group Manager of Corporate Services, and the Chief Financial Officer.

The panel will provide independent advice to the Mayor and Councillors on any financial matters referred to it by the Mayor or Councillors. Such matters may arise from material prepared by council officers or from other sources.

The panel will work closely with officers including, in particular, the Chief Financial Officer, to ensure the integrity of the existing governance and management arrangements are maintained.

The panel will report and be accountable in accordance with protocols agreed between the Mayor and the Chief Executive.
